At The Star we have created a fair and consistent process across all properties for Multi-hire, ensuring that we properly record employee’s various work schedules and that we are making employee’s welfare our priority.
Your application will be assessed by the Leader from the department you are applying to, they will then be in touch with you regarding your application once opportunities for Multi-hire arise.
If you are successful in your application for Multi-hire, you will receive a contract of employment for your Multi-hire role which must be signed and returned to People Services prior to any shifts being eligible for Multi-hire.
FAQ’s
What if I resign from my primary role and I want to keep my Multi-hire role? Unfortunately if you resign from your primary role this also means that you resign from your Multi-hire role. As an option, if there are opportunities for employment in your Multi-hire role you may apply for an internal transfer in accordance with the normal process.
How many Multi-hire roles can I hold? To ensure we continue to monitor your welfare, you may only hold four (4) roles in total, three (3) Multi-hire roles and your primary role.
What if I want to work this weekend and I haven’t received the contract for the Multi-hire position? You are not permitted to commence work without the contract of employment and the information being processed through to Workforce Management. Workforce Management will no longer be processing Multi-hire outside of this process.
What if I don’t work in my Multi-hire role for a period of greater than 3 months? A review will be conducted every 3 months of active and inactive Multi-hire. If you have not completed shifts in an Multi-hire role in 3 months this will be ceased. This is to ensure that you have the current skills required to undertake the roles.
I work as a Food & Beverage Attendant in one restaurant, do I need to have Multi-hire to do shifts as a Food & Beverage Attendant in a different restaurant in the same property? No, this is not considered as Multi-hire. If you wish to work in an alternative restaurant, please discuss this with your Leader who will work together with you on other opportunities.
What if I work over the 100 hours in 2 weeks in both my primary and Multi-hire role? Your Leader will discuss your working hours with you and where required remove shifts from your Multi-hire role to ensure that you are rested for your primary role.
Can I do Multi-hire just to assist for one event? Multi-hire is not to be utilised for a one-off occasion. The purpose of Multi-hire must be to enable the team member to attain additions skills and provide career opportunities. For any one-off events, please discuss this further with your Leader.
If I am having performance issues with my primary role am I able to do more shifts in my Multi-hire role? No, as your employment contracts are linked your performance across both roles are subject to the same process. This means that if you have performance issues in your primary role, you may not be permitted to pick up shifts in your Multi-hire role.
What if I want to swap my primary role contracted hours to my Multi-hire? You will be rostered in accordance with your contract of employment. Therefore, if your primary role is a Dealer with a minimum of 32 per 2-week cycle, you must be rostered to this minimum. You are not able to change these hours into a different role under Multi-hire.
